HBOT at Rapha
All your questions about HBOT — answered!
What is HBOT?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized environment. This process allows the body to absorb oxygen in greater amounts and transports that oxygen to the blood cells, plasma, and even further. When oxygen is delivered deeper it allows cells to turn over and healing can occur at a faster rate.
What is HBOT good for?
HBOT is incredibly good for everyone. Due to the increase in oxygen on a cellular level, it allows your body to repair itself and keeps the immune system at its peak. The pressure of the chamber is beneficial for autoimmune disease (inflammation), traumatic brain injuries, concussions, strokes, acne, long covid, pre-treatment for before surgery and after surgery, broken bones (shortens the healing time), Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety, depression, and more.
What to Expect During HBOT:
First, our patients will begin with a consultation with our health care provider. They will go over health history, and make sure that patient is a good candidate for HBOT therapy. Once the consult is complete, patients will relax, sit, or lie comfortably in the chamber. Many patients read a book or sleep for the duration of the treatment. Sessions can last anywhere from 1hr and 20 minutes to 2 hrs, depending on what we are treating and how much time the patient has available.
Being able to clear your ears is necessary. We describe this feeling like how your ears feel on airplanes. Chewing gum or swallowing will help ears adjust to the pressure changes.
How Many HBOT Treatments Will I Need?
This is very patient dependent, and our health care provider will go over this during the consultation! With HBOT consistency is key!
How much does an HBOT Treatment cost?
An HBOT session costs $50 by itself, or $25 in conjunction with other treatments. All of our services are private pay. Meaning we do not file or take insurance.
